November 13, 2018 -- Richard Sorin, Scott McCullough, Marc Sorin and Ben Arnold successfully defended three funeral homes in a highly-publicized, class action lawsuit involving 1,200 claimants and more than 20 funeral homes.

Richard Sorin, Scott McCullough, Marc Sorin and Ben Arnold recently tried a class action lawsuit defending three funeral homes against allegations of mishandling remains.  The plaintiffs alleged eight causes of action.  At the trial, the jury returned a unaminous verdict in favor of the funeral homes.  On the only cause of action that wasn't totally rejected by the jury, the jury apportioned fault at only 1% on the funeral homes.  On the damages, the jury awarded less than 0.5% of the amount sought by the plaintiffs, and that amount was the reduced again by 99% in the judgment, due to the apportionment of fault at 1%.
